A new solution for panel mount locking!

Tensility has designed a panel mount solution with a ratchet locking mechanism for projects that require quick and easy, hassle-free installation, without sacrificing reliability and a secure connection. We currently offer a ratchet locking mechanism for USB Type B and USB Type C.

Our ratchet locking mechanism functions similarly to ZipTie™ locks. Both the panel mount overmold and the ratchets are threaded, and when the ratchet is slid onto the overmold, the panel mount is secured in place. A second ratchet is also slid onto the overmold to provide extra security and a tight fit to prevent any unwanted movement or disconnection.

To ensure durability and longevity, Tensility has designed the panel mount overmold with a nylon material that is resistant to a wide range of organic oils and fuels and can withstand high temperatures up to 180°C. This makes it an ideal choice for DIY projects in workshop environments and situations where the finished product could be exposed to certain harmful substances.

FAQs

Can you remove the ratchet lock once it has been installed?

You can remove the ratchet; however, we do not recommend doing so. The locking threads will deteriorate quickly after the first removal. Tensility does provide two ratchets with every cable to allow flexibility when positioning and ensuring secure placement.

Are there more ratchet lock options other than USB Type B and C?

No, there are no other options currently. Since this is a new design in the marketplace, Tensility has only released USB Type B and C. However, please reach out to [email protected] with any custom inquiries, as we are always looking to expand our selection and get your feedback.

Are the ratchet panel mounts cables USB 2.0 or USB 3.0?

Currently we only offer USB 2.0 for our USB Type B and C ratchet panel mounts.

What are the panel cutout dimensions?

For both USB Type B and C panel mount solutions, the panel cutout is 12.3 mm wide and 6.3 mm high. The panel thickness can be anywhere from 0.5 mm to 8.0 mm. You can also find a panel cutout drawing and the dimension tolerances on the product specs.
